ONEONTA — Oneonta has hired the first city manager in its history after voters approved a new charter last November.
Michael H. Long, city administrator of Poughkeepsie, was appointed by the Common Council today.
Long holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Landscape Architecture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse. He also holds a Master's of Arts in Public Administration (MaPA) from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
Mr. Long had been city administrator in Poughkeepsie since 2008. Before that, he worked for the Cayuga County planning board and for the city of Auburn and served as director of capital projects and grants and as interim city manager.
