Santa Claus to come to several area towns

The Unadilla Presbyterian Church at 156 Main Street, will host a Christmas cookie walk and bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church.

There will be assortment of handmade crafts, candles and gifts (including gifts for a dollar or under) for sale.

A choice assortment of homemade seasonal cookies and Christmas candies will be sold by the pound. There will also be a soup and sandwich luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Events in the village of Franklin on Saturday are being coordinated by the Franklin Improvement Society, with the help of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations, said Improvement Society member Chris Geertgens.

Beginning at 11 am, Grandma’s Pantry at the Methodist Church will feature homemade items for sale as well as soup and sandwiches for lunch. The Susquehanna Valley Quilt Guild will display local quilts at the Episcopal Church.

The annual indoor Franklin Holiday Market will be open from noon to 5 p.m. at the Franklin Fire House at the corner of Main and Institute Streets. It will feature local farmers and craftspeople.

Holiday gift items will be for sale, including baked goods; knitted, sewn and felted handicrafts; books and CDs by local authors and performers; holiday wreaths; soaps; candles; chocolates and local cheeses.

The annual Franklin house tour begins at 1 pm. Maps for this self-guided tour of eight houses will be available at the fire house at 12:45 p.m. The price is $6 per person and $12 for a family of four.

At 4 p.m., the Community Bible Church will have free cocoa, carols and a multimedia show.
