Sidney among those to receive historical grants

(Continued)

According to the release, the survey will underscore the resurgence of local products – from beer to cheese to maple syrup – being produced by entrepreneurs in Garrattsville. This survey will also be completed by Ravage.

A $3,600 grant was presented to the Guilford Historical Society in October. The society prepared an application to nominate the hamlet of Guilford to the state and national historic registers.

The Preserve New York Grant Program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York Legislature.

“At its August, 2012 meeting, the Preserve New York grant program panel selected 14 applicants in 11 counties around the state to share $83,674 in funding,” said Tania Werbizky, the League’s Regional Director of Technical and Grant Programs in western New York. “As always, the competition for these funds was intense. The Preservation League is delighted to help advance the preservation efforts of the village of Sidney with timely funding through Preserve New York.”

For more information on the Preserve New York Grant Program, call (518) 462-5658 or visit the League’s website at www.preservenys.org.
