---- — While candidates are polishing up their victory speeches in advance of next Tuesday’s election, a different type of preparations are underway as local organizers prep for Election Day dinners.
The Cooperstown Rotary Club’s annual Pancake Day, an Election Day tradition since 1957, will be held again this year Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cooperstown Vets Club, 60 Main St., Cooperstown.
Besides the club members and their families who volunteer for the annual fundraiser, in-bound Rotary Youth Exchange students will be on hand to help out with serving, seating and clean up. Donations from the Otesaga Hotel, Fly Creek Cider Mill and Chobani Yogurt help offset costs and add variety to the fare.
The all-you-can-eat menu includes pancakes, maple syrup, sausages, applesauce, yogurt, coffee, tea and cider.
“It’s a great time to connect with friends, catch up on local news and support the great work of Rotary in our community,” said Ben Novellano, co-chair of Pancake Day, in a media release.
“Last year, our club provided 80 complementary tickets to the local food bank,” added co-chair Mark diLorenzo in the release.
On sale at the breakfast will be sets of boxed notecards featuring scenes of Cooperstown taken by local photographers. Proceeds will benefit Rotary International’s fight against polio. Tickets will be $6 for adults and $4 for children.
