ISD employee earns certification

Christopher Nordberg, an employee of Information Systems Division Inc. of Oneonta, has earned the designation of “Net+ Certified Professional, having completed the qualifying CompTIA Net+ Certification Examination, according to a media release issued by Ronal F. Ranc II, ISD president.

CompTIA Network+ is an internationally recognized and ISO/ANSI accredited certification, the release said. The exam covers network technologies, installation and configuration, media and topologies, management, security and virtual networking, among other areas.

ISD is located at 98 Chestnut St. in the city of Oneonta.

SUNY prof speaks at conference in D.C.

Charles Moran, a business administration and accounting professor at SUNY Cobleskill, was a guest speaker at the fifth annual Financial Literacy Leadership Conference of the Society for Financial Education and Professional Development Inc. in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 16.

Moran, named one of the “Power Thirty in Finance” last year by Smart Money magazine, presented on “Investments and Financial Services: What Every Financial Educator Should Know,” a media release from the State University College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill said. Other speakers included representatives from the U.S. Treasury and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In 2011, Moran was chairman of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which oversees the country’s more than 63,000 CFPs.

FAM Funds in Cobleskill names trustee

Donald J. Boteler, who recently retired as vice president of operations and continuing education of Investment Company Institute, has joined the board of independent trustees of FAM Funds in Cobleskill, a media release said.

Boteler replaces retired FAM Funds’ trustee C. Richard Pogue. Boteler was with ICI, a financial trade association in Washington, D.C., since 1986, and he previously worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission investment management division.

FAM Funds offers managed accounts and mutual funds.
