Bassett replaces Urgent Care centers; walk-in care still available

In the Bassett Healthcare Network, Convenient Care with appointments has replaced Urgent Care centers in Oneonta, however, walk-in consultation still is available.

Bassett spokeswoman Karen Huxtable-Hooker said the main difference is that patients are encouraged to schedule appointments. Convenient Care staff diagnose and treat the same conditions previously seen at Urgent Care, including sore throats, coughs, earaches and fevers; minor burns and injuries; sprains and strains; and vomiting, diarrhea and urinary problems.

With call-ahead scheduling, patients can make an appointment for the same or next day and avoid some time in the waiting room, Huxtable-Hooker said.

The transition was March 12, Huxtable-Hooker said, and feedback from patients has been "very positive."

Convenient Care hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. To make an appointment at the Oneonta facility at 1 Associate Drive, call 433-6400.
