Otsego County Chamber seeks business award nominees

For the first time, the Otsego County Chamber seeks nominations from the general public for two business awards, a media release said, and the deadline is noon Monday.

The 13th annual Small Business Award and the seventh annual Breakthrough Award will be presented at a dinner at The Otesaga Resort Hotel on Oct. 11.

The Breakthrough Award is a celebration of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit and will be given to a business or individual in Otsego County that has shown innovative, creativity, entrepreneurship and growth potential, the release said. A small business is an employer of 20 full-time equivalent or fewer people.

NBT announces four promotions

Four employees at NBT have been promoted, President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Dietrich recently announced.

Brian Burton, Timothy McKown, Jennifer Telesky and Matthew Tomazin were named assistant vice presidents, and a media release gave details of their experience, including:

"¢ Burton, branch manager of NBT Bank of New Berlin, has been with the company since 2002 and is responsible for branch sales, customer service and operations.

"¢ McKown, an investment officer for NBT Financial Group, the bank's trust and investment department, has been with the company since 2006. McKown assists individuals and institutional clients with investment management.

"¢ Telesky, a commercial banking relationship manager, has been with NBT since 2000. A graduate of NBT Bank's management training program, she is responsible for developing and managing business relationships with commercial customers in Chenango and Delaware counties.

"¢ Tomazin, a financial analyst who has been with the company since 2008, develops analytical reports to evaluate interest rate risk, profitability and strategic initiatives.

"Each of these individuals has made a significant contribution to the success of NBT Bank," Dietrich said in the release. "They are being recognized for their demonstrated dedication and commitment to the organization and their respective divisions."

Ioxus offers `thin cell' module

Ioxus Inc., a manufacturer in Oneonta of ultracapacitor technology, is offering thin cell ultracapacitor module designs, which can save space and weight in applications, a media release said.

Ioxus THiNCAP iMOD modules consist of high-power, thin, flexible ultracapacitor packs, instead of cylindrical cells, the release said. Applications may include telecommunications, silicon and food production, renewable energy, hospitals and robotics. Ioxus customer, including Toshiba Mitsubishi Electric Industrial System Corporation, RICOH, Sanyo Denki and General Electric, use the THiNCAP iMOD modules for power conditioning, copy machines, and peak power shaving systems, among many other applications, the release said.

"We are now able to give customers the most-extensive technology offerings in the industry to meet their application needs," Ioxus CEO Mark McGough said.
