---- — Unadilla Laminated Products will mark a milestone later this month as it celebrates 50 years of manufacturing and unveils its updated brand.

“In 1963, my father and grandfather expanded our plant to Sidney support our growing glulam business,” CEO Craig Van Cott said in a media release. “Over the last 50 years, that business has grown into our main product and on October 22 I am excited to say we will be refreshing our brand to be more consistent with this product line. Longtime customers can still count on the same high quality of our products and services. And, our new brand will allow us to better communicate what we do to prospective customers in the building industry.”

The Oct. 22 celebration will include plant tours and an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the company’s Sidney facility at 100 West Road. RSVP is requested by Oct. 18 by calling Zoë van der Meulen, vice president of communication, at 369-9341 or emailing zvandermeulen@unalam.com.

The company was incorporated as the Unadilla Silo Co. in 1909, with roots in the late 18th century, when the Van Cott family began selling lumber in Unadilla. The company eexperimented with glue laminated, or “glulam,” barn rafters in 1928, and expanded into its Sidney facility in 1963.
