Home-care service expands across region

UHS Home Care will soon be taking its home health services to the residents of Delaware, Chenango and Tioga counties.

The Broome County-based home-care agency has secured approval from the state Department of Health to expand into the three counties.

“We will be working with UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, UHS Delaware Valley Hospital and the UHS-affiliated physician offices in those counties,” said Greg Rittenhouse, vice president and chief operating officer of UHS Home Care, in a release to the media.

The agency will send caregivers to patients homes in these new areas and will partner with existing UHS facilities in these regions.

The agency provides such home health services as nursing, physical therapy, nutritional services and respiratory therapy.

UHS Home Care is looking to hire home care professionals who live in Chenango, Delaware and Tioga counties. Efforts will be made to match caregivers with patients in their own communities.

In the release, Rittenhouse said the Department of Health recently lifted a more-than- two-decade moratorium on home care expansions. He also said that UHS developed the expansion plan in part because of community demand.

Services will be available by September.
