Chamber in Franklin honors business, person

The Greater Franklin Chamber of Commerce recently conferred two 2013 awards.

Cronauer Plumbing and Electric was recognized as Business of the Year, a media release said, and Richard Costello was named as Person of the Year.

The awards were presented at the Chamber’s annual dinner meeting at the Sidney Elks Club on May 3.

Cronauer Plumbing and Electric has been owned and operated by Bob Cronauer for more than 55 years, a testament to “doing the job right,” the release said. He has served the community in many ways, including 28 years in the Franklin Emergency Medical Squad.

Costello, a founding member and current vice president of the Chamber, has helped with Chamber projects, the release said. He has supported the youths of Franklin as a scout leader, having been in scouting for 25 years, has coached sports and serves on consultant committees for the Board of Cooperative Educational Services.

The Greater Franklin Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1980, serves Franklin, Treadwell, Otego and the surrounding area. The Chamber meets monthly, generally on the last Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. in the Train Museum on Main Street in Franklin.

Program offers tips, professional connections

The Tri County Young Professionals Group and the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will have a networking workshop, pizza party and program on personal behavior on Monday night.

“Why Smart People Don’t Change and How to Use Brain-Body-Behavior Tools to Blast Through Barriers” will be the topic of the program led by Rhonda Morton.

Organizers suggested attending with “a sticky issue or seemingly insurmountable barrier” and having an opportunity to gather “information, tools and techniques that will allow you to change the trajectory of your life.”

The event at Stella Luna Ristorante, 58-60 Market St. in Oneonta, will start with networking at 6 p.m., then pizza and the 7 p.m. workshop.
