Encore Entrepreneur Month
The U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP are teaming up to host National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Month in April.
The initiative targets at entrepreneurs older than 50 who want to use their experience to start their own businesses.
The two organizations will match these “encore entrepreneurs” with successful business owners and community leaders for advice and assistance.
Among the events schedule for upstate New York are an encore workshop in Albany on April 22 and a resource fair in Endwell on April 25. For more information, go to www.sba.gov/mentormonth. State taxation conference
Thomas H. Mattox, commissioner of the state Department of Taxation and Finance, will be the keynote speaker at the Business Council of New York’s annual conference on state taxation in Albany on April 24 and 25.
The two-day conference at The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center will focus on the latest business and corporate tax issues and how they affect businesses. Agenda topics include the economic effect of federal and state tax policy; personal income tax reform, and examination of Sub S/LLC/Partnership issues.
Discussions will be led by staff from the Department of Taxation and Finance, the Business Council staff and invited guests.
