Area franchise marks 20th anniversary

ServiceMaster by Burch is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month.

Based in Otego, the franchise’s territory consists of Delaware, Otsego, Broome, Chenango and Tioga counties. It provides water, fire and mold-remediation services, as well as carpet and upholstery cleaning.

ServiceMaster by Burch also has an office in Binghamton.

In a statement to the media, ServiceMaster by Burch co-owner Neal Burch Sr. said, “Our business has shifted from primarily cleaning carpets and upholstery, to specializing in restoring homes and businesses after fires, flooding, smoke and mold damage, and other types of disasters.”

“Our busiest season is fall, winter and into late spring,” said Otego office manager Tara LeBourveau.

Speaking of the satisfaction levels of their customers, LeBourveau said, “A lot of customers call us back when they have another issue.”

According to LeBourveau, the company’s most profitable territory is in Otsego and Delaware counties, but they’ve done well in their other counties as well.

“We’ve had growth in all areas,” she said.

She said the company has 19 employees.

ServiceMaster by Burch is a franchise of ServiceMaster, a Fortune 1000 company.
