“It’s very inexpensive to do this, it’s only about an eighth of a penny a shot,” said Kaplan, “You can really let loose and have some fun.”
Delaware County Tactical has nine models of rifles and seven models of handguns. All guns at Delaware County Tactical shoot 6 mm pellets. There are a mixture of spring, electric and gas-powered pellet guns available.
On the pellet guns Kaplan said, “They have the same characteristics, the same weight (as firearms), the only difference is they don’t shoot combustible materials.”
At the open house, visitors will get the chance to tour Delaware County Tactical and try out guns at no charge.
“You demo out the guns and see if you like them,” said Kaplan.
The facility features an eight-bay range, shop, and a jewelry business called Bullets and Diamonds. The jewelry at Bullets and Diamonds is designed by Kaplan’s wife, Grace Anne Kaplan.
The grand opening of Delaware County Tactical will be Sept. 24. It will be open Thursday through Sunday.
Thursday will be ladies night and college discount day. Saturday will have two handgun instruction and safety courses taught by Kaplan, one offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other offered from 2 to 5 p.m.
“I guarantee you’ll ... feel like a SWAT officer when you get out of that course,” said Kaplan, adding that reservations were requested. “I’m already booked for the first two weeks.”
Sunday will be designated as tournament day, and will feature the Budweiser shootout. The shootout will consist of competitors shooting at Budweiser cans over multiple rounds. The winner of each week’s competition will receive a trophy and jewelry, and be eligible to compete in a tournament at the end of the year.
Children will be allowed to fire on the range, provided that they are supervised and a waiver is signed for them.
