Some area businesses are gearing up for the holidays with open house and other special events. According to media releases and notices, some events include:
• GreenTree Home Candle in Treadwell will have a holiday sale from 10 a.m. To 5 p.m. Dec. 7 featuring locally produced goods from five artisan-based businesses.
Vendors will include Annie Hayes Rugs and Organic Soap of Delhi, Wallywoodshop of Franklin, JLF Jewelry Design of Delhi, Bread Fellows of Bovina and GreenTree Home Candle. The group plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to Habitat of Humanity of Delaware County.

• NBT Bank at 1 Wall St. in Oneonta and the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will have an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4. The chamber requests reservations at 432-4500, ext. 207.
• Rainbow’s End Weddings and More in Oneonta will give a turkey to a local food bank when a bride-to-be purchases an in-stock bridal gown by Dec. 18, according to owner Norah Doyle. And bridesmaids may take $5 off the cost of a gown, with up to five food items accepted, she said.

• Butternut Barn Primitives in Richfield Springs will have its 37th annual “Coming of Christmas at the Barn” event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8. The Barn, which is on Allen’s Lake Road south of Route 20, offers early style handmade items, seasonal goods and and other wares.
STATE SELLS E-ZPASS LOCALLY
Travelers may get a jump start on long-distance journeys by buying an E-ZPass closer to home while purchasing groceries.
The state’s E-ZPass tags now are available for purchase at customer service counters of Price Chopper and Hannaford stores, according to a media release issued by the governor.
