Springbrook plans Sidney career fair

Springbrook will host a career fair on May 8 from 2-6 p.m. at the Sidney Town Hall Civic Center.

The provider for special-needs clients will be opening two new community homes in Sidney, it said in a media release, and is looking for “motivated and compassionate individuals to build new residential teams.”

The career fair will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about Springbrook’s training, continuing education opportunities and pay and benefits packages, as well as more about the Community Homes program.

Attendees are encouraged to apply online before the fair so they can be interviewed at the event. Current openings include residence counselors, residence specialists, residential supervisors, associate director and behavior specialist.

Springbrook is Otsego County’s third-largest employer, with more than 1,100 employees. It serves more than 850 people with developmental disabilities.

The civic center is located at 21 Liberty St. in Sidney.

Brewery-cafe collaboration

Brewery Ommegang and the Autumn Café on Main Street in Oneonta will be collaborating for a food-ale event Thursday, featuring dishes prepared with the brewery’s ales.

Menu items will include an appetizer of BPA-steamed mussels with cilantro-lime butter and crostini.

Among the entrees will be Angus New York strip steak with wild mushrooms in an Abbey Ale pan sauce served with roasted potatoes and sautéed fresh green beans, and grilled pork tenderloins with Hennepin onion gravy served with the café’s rice pilaf and savory butternut squash.

Dessert will feature Three Philosophers chocolate cupcakes topped with maple cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with crispy bacon.

Unclaimed insurance funds

Excellus Health Plan says more than 9,100 individuals and companies in New York state have forgotten more than $1.1 million in checks it issued in 2009 to members and providers.

A complete list of names of people and companies with checks to claim is available on the company’s website at Printed legal notices listed by county have been or will be placed this week in regional daily or weekly newspapers throughout New York state, the insurer said in a media release.
