McLaughlin's to open new Oneonta location

McLaughlin’s Clothing Store will open Saturday at its new location on Main Street in Oneonta.

The day will begin with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. for the new location at 166 Main St., the former location of the now-defunct Sport Tech, said Scott McLaughlin, president of McLaughlin’s, which has a department store at 27 South Broad St., Norwich, and a shoe store at 146 Main St., Oneonta.

McLaughlin said prizes and discounts will be offered, as well as free refreshments.

“It’s about a third more square-footage,” he said of the new location as compared with the former location, a few doors away.

“It allows us to offer a larger array of brands,” he said. “We’re able to spread the merchandise out better.”

Small business website

The U.S. Small Business Administration has launched a web page and blog aimed at educating small business owners about the Affordable Care Act.

The site will serve as a gateway for small business owners by connecting them with information provided by federal agencies responsible for implementing the law, according to a press release from the SBA.

The web page,, breaks down the key provisions of the law based on business size in the following categories: self-employed, fewer than 25 employees, fewer than 50 employees and more than 50 employees. It also provides links to other useful information for small businesses, such as a glossary of key healthcare reform terms.

New bus facility

The Rolling V Bus Corporation, a passenger transportation company based in the Hudson Valley and Catskills, has opened a terminal in Walton.

The 3,000-square-foot maintenance and dispatch facility at 177 Industrial Park Road is the company’s new Delaware County base, according to a release from the company. It employs 16 local residents, has a multibay garage and mechanics shop, with an office and training space, the company said, adding the it will enable the bus company to effectively serve all points in Delaware County with school bus service, medical transportation and charter service.
