Social media-HR seminar planned

The Otsego County Chamber and the Otsego-Delaware Job Service Employer Committee are sponsoring a seminar Wednesday that focuses on human resources approaches to policies and legal practices for social media.

Chris Quereau, president and creative director of Vibrant Creative will give a presentation on social media uses, tools, and web sites, and John M. Bagyi of Bond, Schoeneck & King will discuss legal issues involved social media use by human resources departments.

The seminar, titled Social Media Techniques and Legal Issues, will be held at Foothills Performing Arts Center, 24 Market St., Oneonta. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the seminar will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. For reservations, call 432-4800, ext. 103, or email alan.sessions@labor.ny.gov.

Spring weather preparedness

The Small Business Administration, in partnership with Agility Recovery, is offering a free webinar Tuesday on best practices for mitigating spring weather risks.

The preparedness tips are based on real-life recovery experiences from business owners who have had to deal with floods and severe storms that are common in springtime. Businesses can take many low-cost, efficient steps to ensure their infrastructure, clients and employees are safe.

Planning a farm business

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County will conduct a one-day workshop — Plan for a Successful Farm Business — April 12.

The workshop will give participants all of the tools to make a realistic business plan in several, simple steps for a new agricultural venture or to diversify an existing one. Experienced educators will lead participants through the steps necessary to make a compelling plan that will open the door to funding, reduce financial risk and get started on the right track, the extension says in a press release.
