Kelso, who lives in East Meredith, said Thursday that she is ``super pleased’’ with business to date because she has been as busy as during the holidays. The store opened in September, she said.
Luisa Montanti, general manager of Southside Mall, and Barbara Ann Heegan, executive director of the Otsego County Chamber, said the public is welcome to today’s opening event.
Kelso, who is chairwoman of the Delaware County Republican Committee and chairwoman of the Davenport Town Planning Board, among other civic activities, said state Sen. James Seward, R-Milford, and Assemblyman Clifford Crouch, R-Guilford, are expected to attend today’s opening.
Kelso said she has been making fudge for about a dozen years. Her store offers more than 50 flavors of fudge, including sucrose-free and alcoholic versions, she said, and flavors are rotated. Fudge is made on-site at the store in a kitchen approved by the state Department of Health, she said.
The shop also will feature country gifts, maple products, candles and other items made locally, a media release said. Kelso said she has three part-time employees.

Inn reports success, plans
to close for season
Chef Aaron Wratten of the Horned Dorset Inn has reported a successful season at his family’s restaurant in Leonardsville since re-opening in May after a year-long hiatus.
The inn’s menus featured seasonal produce from the inn’s organic gardens, local ingredients and world-class specialties, a media release said. The inn’s owners also inaugurated The Horned Dorset Colony, a foundation with a residency program for writers, painters and composers.
The restaurant is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sundays. The Horned Dorset is on state Route 8, less then 25 miles from Cooperstown. For more information, call (315) 855-7898. The restaurant will close Oct. 28 and re-open in May.
