---- — No one, on the Left, wants to admit to the elephant in the room, but Barack Obama was elected president for three reasons only. He is a good-looking young man. He is a great orator as long as the teleprompter is working, and finally, the mainstream media, Hollywood, and the liberal elite wanted an African-American president, regardless of his qualifications.
Like my father used to say, “Careful what you wish for, you might get it.” The aforementioned three reasons are fine, but they must be coupled with experience and savvy. Unfortunately, this man-child has neither.
Forgetting about the calamity of Obama economics and health care, let’s concentrate on the madness, mayhem and disarray that his inexperience and “Kumbaya” approach to international affairs have caused. Past presidents have certainly faced greater challenges, but this novice has brought upon himself a host of problems that he is incapable of handling.
Our southern border has been porous for decades, but in recent years, Mexican drug lords have brought their violence into our Southwest. President Obama’s answer is to close national parks near the border, denying American citizens access because he is unwilling to man up and guarantee their safety on American soil. Woodrow Wilson faced a similar problem, but he had Black Jack Pershing. Surely Mr. President, the U.S. Army can handle this.
Overseas, President Obama’s policies have contributed to chaos, bloodshed and the increased power of radical Islam in Egypt, Libya and Iraq. The “Red Line” drawn in Syria has been crossed more times than Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder claim they “can’t recall” under oath, and Syrian President Assad is still in power, killing people and maintaining his supply of chemical weapons while our Commander-in-Chief attends campaign fundraisers.
Do we even need to mention the cooling of our relationship with Israel, as President Obama tries to coddle the Arab world? That has worked about as well as anything else he’s tried. Iran’s nuclear program is still moving forward, and Pakistan becomes more corrupt as al-Qaeda’s influence grows.
Under President Obama, we have witnessed the increased influence of thugs like Hugo Chavez, Vladimir Putin, Assad of Syria, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, and Hassan Rouhani of Iran.
Hamas has grown bolder with weapons from Russia and Iran, and the Taliban is gaining strength in Afghanistan. Is there any doubt that the Muslim Brotherhood has expanded throughout the Middle East and North Africa while Obama vacations?
Even his choice for Secretary of Defense is suspect. He and Secretary Hagel want to cut U.S. forces to 1940 levels. That’s pre-World War Two levels! Why would anyone think this is a good idea? Is there anything going on in the world that would lead one to believe that it’s a good time to gut the military?
Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin, the new most powerful man in the world, invaded the Ukraine. Did you see the movie “Braveheart?” Remember Longshank’s son, prissy Prince Edward? As William Wallace was wreaking havoc with English rule in Scotland, he scurried off confused and screaming, “Convene my military consul!” I bet…never mind.
Anyways, President Obama has warned old Vlad that “there will be serious consequences.” He has told Putin that he will be “held accountable for his actions” and furthermore, he defriended on Facebook. I’m sure, somewhere in the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin is shaking in fear. However, we might want to rethink that cut to 1940 levels? I’m just saying.
Remember what my father used to say, “Be careful what you wish for?” Well, we got it. We got a man who believed that America was arrogant, excessively powerful and far too assertive internationally. He believed through the power of his personality (talk about arrogance!), by lessening America’s might and influence, and by reaching out to leaders and factions regardless of their worth or character, peace and righteousness could be had.
It’s nice to trust your fellow man, and extend an olive branch. Let’s go to the mountainside, and “teach the world to sing in perfect harmony” or as Rodney King said during the Los Angeles riots, “Can’t we all just get along?”
No, we can’t. There is evil in this world, and bad men do bad things The more powerful they are, the worse their deeds. They are not, and never will be, our allies. Nor, do we want them to be! We need a president who recognizes this, and has the courage and foresight to confront them before situations escalate and innocent lives are lost.
Hopefully, the next president can turn this mess around, because American arrogance, power and assertiveness abroad, like it or not, are the best hope for peace, freedom and sanity in this world. And if he succeeds, the most powerful man in the world will be an American, once again.
