Tight budgets make priorities a little clearer
A few weeks ago, I stopped at Losie's Gun Shop and gazed upon a Savage Model 12 F-Class long-range target rifle in 6.5x284 Norma. With a Leupold FX-3 30x40mm scope and all steel bases and rings, this baby runs $2,000 and it's worth every penny!

Random chance doesn't explain man's greatness

Natural gas drilling is a 'no-brainer'
A short time ago, we read a letter from an old soldier. I don't remember his exact words, but it went something like this.

Raises should be earned, not negotiated
Back in the early '80s, we received a phone call from a new farmer who wanted to purchase some equipment. That evening, I met Rick, and he proudly showed me his new farm and small herd of Holstein cattle.

Liberals: They're anything but liberal
This is the end of an era. Tom Sears, one of Oneonta's favorite personalities and a leading writer for The Daily Star, is retiring from his "On the Right Side" column. He has had quite a run with more than 130 columns in the past 5½ years.
