Because God loves us so much, we live in a time of joyous expectation. Easter brings us the Good News of Christ’s glorious resurrection. Along with what it means to our own personal hopes and expectations, it also gives us clearly a mandate:
• to care about human problems and suffering that many people ignore;
• to speak up for the downtrodden who are powerless to speak for themselves;
• to call for forgiveness when others call for blood;
• to share our resources without asking “what’s in it for us?”
At Easter, we celebrate the power of Light over Darkness. There is tremendous hope that we can experience as we are acutely aware of the presence of the Lord who brings healing power through his Resurrection.
This healing power penetrates the darkness of our soul and transforms our own darkness into light, our despair into hope, and our sorrow into joy. Light that has come into the world through Jesus Christ.
Because Christ rose, our suffering is not in vain, our death is not final. The stone has been taken away. The tomb is empty! May the stones that hold our hearts from love be rolled away and may we experience the resurrection power in our lives!
