Stained glass artist Gene Mallard of Stamford is one of five area artists and craftsmen who will show their work at the seventh annual American Crafts Festival at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City for the next two weekends.
Other local craft artists chosen for the event include Barbara Riggs of Oneonta, who specializes in woven clothing; Ralph Stupple of Stamford, pottery; Dale Dapkins of Delhi, ceramics; and Randy Herold of Davenport Center, leather.
The American Crafts Festival is organized by the American Concern for Art and Craftsmanship and is sponsored by Consolidated Edison. It is the largest and most comprehensive free exposition of American crafts in New York City.

COOPERSTOWN _ Eight gardens in Cooperstown and vicinity are listed on the itinerary of the Cooperstown Women's Club Garden Tour which begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 10.
Gardens to be visited in the annual tour include: Miss Margaret Ross, 14 Main St., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Watson Stokes Sr., Woodside Hall; Mrs. Jeannette M. Hoyt, Visionside; Mr. and Mrs. James M. Symington, Bowerstown; Dr. and Mrs. Francis M. Harrison, Beaver Street.
Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy L. Parshall, 108 Pioneer St., Mrs. Leslie Hyde Pell, 64 Pioneer St., and Miss Katherine F. VanHoesan, 19 Lake St.
The tour, a part of the annual program of the Garden Discussion Group of the Women's Club, will end at 5 p.m. at the Village Library building from whence it is slated to commence. Tea will conclude the event.
