WALTON _ Francis Cucciarre, owner of Tony's Shoe Store here, was elected to a one-year term as president of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce last week, replacing Andes real estate dealer Eric Wedemeyer Jr.

Gary Hinkley, manager of the Margaretville Telephone Co. was chosen vice president; Linda Norris of the Delaware County Historical Society, secretary; and Gerald Walker, manager of the Delhi office of the Deak National Bank, treasurer.

50 years ago

July 8, 1958

The three-day celebration, sponsored by Worcester American Legion and the Worcester Fire Department, closed Saturday night in a drizzling rain.

Miss Lucretia Dailey, "one man band," won first prize in the oldest group. She is more than 80 years old. "Uncle Moses" won second prize in that age group.

In the 12- to 19-year-old age group, Boys Quintet, featuring Stanley Koren, William Kemp, Frank Cerra and Pat Cerra, won first prize. Junior High School Trio, composed of Eugene Usalapz, Joan Bobnick and Terry Cerra, second prize. In the 5-to-11 age group, Karen Chicorelli tap dancing won first prize and Linda Rumpf, vocal solo, won second prize.

Judges were Carmen Caiazza, Miss Millicent Bentley of New York City and Donald Lettis of Cooperstown.
