FRANKLIN _ The fourth annual Old Franklin Day will be held here today, with plenty to do for the whole family, say the event's sponsors.
Hot-air balloons, softball games, antiques, antique cars, photos of Franklin through the years, square dancing and plenty of food will all be here, according to Willis Frazier, chairman of the Stone Hall Committee.
The annual festival helps to raise money to restore and renovate the 96-years-old "Old Stone Hall," still used by the Franklin Central School as a library.

COOPERSTOWN _ A new book, "The Palace Guard" by Donald Braider, son of Mrs. C. A. Braider of Cooperstown, is set in Cooperstown, and is the story of a Nobel Prize novelist.
Out last week by the Viking Press, the novel, Mr. Braider's first, tells the story of a novelist and the men and women in his life. The hero, Charles Swanson, is in the midst of preparations to write a biography of a great novelist who mysteriously committed suicide.
Mr. Braider spent his summers as a boy at Camp Fenimore on Otsego Lake. His parents operated the camp for many years.
He is a veteran of World War II, is married and the father of three children. They now reside in Danbury, Conn.
Following the publication of this first novel, Mr. Braider is already at work on the second. He is also working on "Profile" for the New Yorker magazine.
