The Family Service Association will present its fall parenting workshop series beginning this month and continuing through December. Workshops are held at the First United Methodist Church at 66 Chestnut St. in Oneonta. Child care and assistance with transportation may be available for these programs. To register or for more information, call 432-2870. The schedule is as follows:

Kids in the Middle, 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 1-22. This program addresses the needs of single parents, caregivers, co-parenting and related topics for children in more than one household.

First Aid, 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 2; Winter Safety, 9:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 6. Dave Lincoln of the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control will present these two workshops, offering basic first-aid techniques and ways to stay safe during the winter.

Loving Discipline, 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursdays, Oct. 9-23. This workshop will offer strategies for setting behavioral expectations for children, encouraging good behavior and responding to inappropriate behavior.

Living with 10- to 15-year-olds, 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 5-19, Dec. 3-17. This workshop will offer information about adolescent growth and development, family values and parenting skills.

Nanny 911, 9:30 a.m. to noon, Nov. 13 and Dec. 4. Both sessions of this workshop will feature episodes from the television program "Nanny 911," followed by a discussion of the strategies demonstrated in the show.

A nonprofit workshop on "Board 2.0: Recruiting, Developing and Retaining a Motivated Board of Directors in the 21st Century" will be offered by the Council of Community Services of New York State from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Roxbury Arts Group's Walter Meade Gallery in Roxbury.

The workshop will be presented by Valerie Venezia, vice president of membership and marketing for CCSNYS, and Andrew Marietta, central New York office manager. This workshop is designed to convey the importance of board development and its role in the overall functioning of nonprofit organizations.

This workshop will emphasize online technologies and their role in the importance of ongoing board development and recruitment, nominating, and retention strategies.
