Call for takeout from your library

You’ll find up-to-date information on breast cancer in “The Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Book.” This comprehensive, easy-to-read guide covers symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and a multitude of other things that you should know about the disease. The many different treatment options available are also explained to the reader.

The Friends of Huntington Memorial Library have donated two books to the library in memory of Diane Slocum. “Adventures with Leaders and Eiders” by Bonnie Hunter shows you how to take your large collection of fabrics and turn them into scrap quilts quickly and easily. Scraps can be turned into usable sized pieces that work well together, making it easy to sew them into a quilt, and even work on more than one at a time. “The Quiltmaker’s Gift” by Jeff Brumbeau is a children’s book that celebrates the joy of giving. The story involves a quiltmaker who has magic in her fingers. She sews incredibly beautiful quilts and gives them all away. There is however, a greedy king who wants the quiltmaker to sew a quilt for him. But he doesn’t share, he’s not happy, and he has so many things, it is doubtful that anything could make him happy. Children will love to see what happens in this story, which has beautiful color illustrations with many different quilt patterns shown.

If you’re going to be traveling over the holidays, make sure you stop at the library to take some reading with you. Check out a new book on CD from the children or adult sections, take out a large-print book to read in the evening when your eyes are tired after driving, or even just a paperback, that doesn’t take up much space in a bag. You’ll find all sorts of materials at the library to help pass the time when you are away.

Library Hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday.
