Fox Memorial Hospital’s executive director of development and marketing has resigned.

Rebecca Nesbitt, who has worked in the public relations department of the hospital for six years, handed in her resignation Thursday. She will leave Fox Hospital Jan. 13.

Mrs. Nesbitt is in charge of the community relations department, made up of seven people.

“It’s time to leave. You know how they say, ‘There’s a season for everything,” and I believe it’s time to leave,” she said. “The circumstances are right.”

Mrs. Nesbitt will take up a similar position at Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville, N.C. in mid-February.

Paul Burdett, chairman of the hospital’s board of trustees, she he is not sure what the plans are to find a replacement for Mrs. Nesbitt.

“We are going to leave it up to John Remillard,” he said. Remillard, the hospital’s new chief executive officer, takes over Jan. 2.

Mrs. Nesbitt’s resignation comes at a time when the hospital is undergoing some major changes. Trustees fired CEO Lorraine Kabot and Daniel Dombal, vice president for finance, in July. The trustees decreased the size of the board in October and elected Burdett as the new chairman to replace Mary Hulbert. Meanwhile, a new CEO, Remillard, and vice-president of finance, James G. Vielkind, were selected.

Burdett said Mrs. Nesbitt’s resignation is not part of the general changes taking place around the hospital.
