STAMFORD — A student at Cherry Valley-Springfield Junior High School won the top place in the BOCES greeting card design contest.

Randy Abrams, son of William and Jessie Coveny of Richfield Springs, won the calendar contest for 1988 Otsego-Northern Board of Cooperative Educational Services.

His design of a puppy in a stocking hanging from a mantel was printed on the front cover of the BOCES 1988-1989 greeting card and calender. A different student’s art work was included for each month.

Randy will receive $25 and a plaque that will feature his design. Other winners, who will receive plaques, and their designs from second to sixth are as follows:

Kitty Ray from Edmeston Central School drew two children having a snow ball fight in their front yard, Jay Davisson from Edmeston designed a caricature of a panda bear, Amy Doltz of Greater Plains School in Oneonta drew a cozy living room with a fireplace decorated for Christmas, Joe Ingalls from Greater Plans drew a puppy wishing all a Merry Christmas, and Christopher Sargent from Cherry Valley-Springfield designed Alf dressed as Santa in front of a tree.
