4-H fashion finalists announced at Revue

The Daily Star

---- — The annual 4-H Fashion Revue was held May 3  at the O’Neill High School Auditorium in Walton, with about 30 4-H members ages 5 to 18 from 13 clubs participating.

4-Hers presented their sewing or purchased projects, including dresses, Christmas stockings, pajamas, a Batman cap and cape and more, and finalists for the State Fair.

Before the event, the 4-Hers’ projects were evaluated in Deposit by Corrine Tompkins; in Hobart by Deb Muller and Amy Kilmer; and in Hamden by Sandy McClenon, Joan Dewing and Cathy Scofield.  McClenon and Scofield judged the teen’s sewn and purchased outfits at the revue.

Before the Revue, 4-H teens had dinner and saw a motivational program presented by Abby Wilson.

Commentators for the Fashion Revue were Justine Bishop of the Country Bumpkins 4-H Club from Delhi and Chelsey Kilmer of the Country Cousins 4-H Club from Hamden.

The half-time show was “Let’s Have a Party to Celebrate How CCE/4-H Has Impacted Us.” 4-Hers wrote their own commentaries on how Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County/4-H has impacted their lives. They also created their own costumes. The half-time show was a tribute to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County’s 100th year anniversary celebration. 4-H members who participated included: Stephanie Bishop and Andrew Hilton of Delhi, George Machala of Franklin, and Shaelie, Neah, Tristen and Tucker McClenon of Walton. 4-H Community Educator Emily Roach also showed a slideshow of present and past Fashion Revues featuring clothing styles from the early 1900s to the present.

State Fair finalists, who will model at the New York State Fair from Aug. 25 to Aug. 29, were as follows: In the Sewn Category: First, Stephanie Bishop of Country Bumpkins; second, Brandi Kilmer of Country Cousins; third, Abbi Miller of the Del Bros 4-H Club from Deposit; first alternate, Chelsey Kilmer of Country Cousins. In the Purchased Category: First, Abigail Dennis, an independent member from Treadwell.

4-Hers’ sewing projects and the 4-H Teen Council Quilt will be on display in the 4-H Youth Building at the Delaware County Fair from Aug. 12 to Aug. 17. For more information on Delaware County 4-H, contact Roach at 865-6531 or
