Genealogy classes are computer-based, and the library will provide laptops for your use. Don’t forget that the library subscribes to Ancestry.com Library Edition. This database can be accessed on any of our public Internet computers. You can call the library to reserve computer time up to two days in advance. New York State Internet Resources, 10 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 25. This class is focused on genealogy resources in New York State. Learn about various Internet resources that can help you in your New York genealogy research. Sites that will be covered include Familysearch.org, USGenWeb, Castle Garden, Find a Grave, Fultonhistory, and other state relevant sites.
Internet Resources for the Genealogist, 10 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday, March 27. If you need direction in a genealogy search that reaches outside New York, come learn about the top websites genealogist use. If it has been a while since you have visited these sites, come for a refresher. Sites that will be covered include Familysearch.org, USGenWeb, Rootsweb, Ancestry.com. If there is time, other sites will be covered based on the research questions of participants.
Family History Center Resources, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26. Learn about the resources available through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Huntington Memorial Library is a Family History Center, which means that the LDS will lend microfilm to our NY Room at your request. This course will outline the free online services of the LDS church and their microfilm lending program.
