DELHI — Delhi could get a 24-hour FM radio station in six months, according to the manager of the proposed project.

Earlier this summer, the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C. announced a 30-day “window of opportunity” for investors to file for exclusive rights to FM frequency 100.3 on the dial. However, there were no takers, and the new station offering was left as a first-come, first-served in filings, removing the competition.

“We applied in August and we have been formally accepted by the FCC,” said Kevin Wright of Walton, who formerly worked for Walton-based WDLA. “That means no other application can be taken, unless something goes wrong with ours.”

Wright said he has Stanley Snadowsky and Allan Pepper, co-owners of the Bottom Line nightclub in New York city, as investors in the new station.

The search for a tower site in how Wright said he met Snadowsky. Above Snadowsky’s seasonal home off the Cabin Hill Road near the Delhi-Andes town line is a former radar installation which the U.S. government sold to Snakowsky five years ago. On the massive metal platform a 28-foot transmitter mast will be mounted, said Wright.

“I intended to rent space on that tower, so I climbed over the fence because it was the only way to meet Mr. Snadowsky. I wound up with an investor,” said Wright.

Currently, Wright is looking for a radio rental space in Delhi.

The stereo station format will include live disc jockeys 24 hours a day, with no automated programming, said Wright.
