It was nice to talk to people at the Library Meet & Greet last week. I learned how much our community appreciates the welcoming atmosphere and great customer service our staff delivers. I hope to visit community organizations in the coming months to learn which services are most popular and what new services we can provide. If you’re interested in a visit, please contact me at the library.
Don’t forget to support the library by joining the Friends group. If you join before Nov. 1 you’ll be entered in a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to the Green Toad Bookstore. Membership forms can be found on the library website or at the Library. The annual meeting will be held just before the Oct. 21 program at 6:30.
BANNED BOOK WEEK
People are always surprised at the list of books that have been banned. To increase awareness of banned books, the American Library Association celebrates Banned Book Week every September. To support the theme, the Friends created a display and held a drawing for three banned books. Florette Jaffie won “The Kite Runner,” Cydney E. won “The Glass Castle” and Cheyenne Kline won “Thirteen Reasons Why.” Congratulations and to the winners!
With your library card, you can download free ebooks and audio books to your computer, tablet or smartphone. If you’re already using this service, you’ll be glad to know that you can now renew ebooks. Simply place a hold on any title that you’ve already checked out and if you need more time it will seamlessly allow you to keep the book. If you want to learn how, register for one of our classes by calling or stopping by the library. A series of classes will run from Oct. 28 to Nov. 6. More details are available at the library.
