Terrence C. Graves of Edmeston was announced Wednesday as a principal appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy and two Worcester boys plus another from Edmeston were nominated as alternates to one of the service academies.

The appointments were made by Congressman Samuel S. Stratton from applications received from high school seniors in his old 32nd Congressional District.

Those who received alternate appointments:

William A. Shaw Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Shaw of East Worcester, second alternate for appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

William A. Spooner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan M. Spooner of West Edmeston, third alternate to the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Dennis Faulds, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Faulds of RD 2 Worcester, fifth alternate to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.

All the boys have plans to go on to college whether academy appointments are taken or not.
