DELHI — Partners in a proposed 24-hour FM radio station to be based in Delhi have received tentative approval from the federal government and target midwinter as their first time on air.

“We have received notification from the Federal Communications Commission that our application has been approved. Now, it’s only a matter of time before the permit arrives,” said Kevin Wright, president of the new station, which will be located at 100.3 FM on the radio dial.

Wright, backed by investors Allan Pepper and Stanley Snadowsky of New York City, filed with the FCC.

Pepper said he and Snadowsky have been friends since boyhood, and they have owned The Bottom Line, a premier New York nightclub for the past 15 years.

“We saw very exciting possibilities,” said Pepper of the Delhi radio station opening. “We’re more than just business people, we’re creative business people, and there are some interesting things that radio offers.”

He said that with the second homes of many urbanites around Delaware County, there should be a new group of listeners in the local market.

The new station company is Wopos Broadcasting Co. Inc. and Wright is president, Snadowsky secretary and Pepper vice president. Wright said the call letters requested of the FCC are WKEV.
