Lions donate funds for large-print books

The Lions Club of Oneonta recently gave a donation to Huntington Memorial Library to purchase large-print books. We have a large readership of these books because the large print is so much easier to read. Whether you have sight problems, or you’re tired at the end of a long day, the large print is an eye saver. Large-print books are released at the same time as books in regular print. Thank you Lions Club! Here is a sampling of the titles received:

“A Fatal Winter,” a novel by G. M. Malliet, finds Max Tudor investigating two deaths at Chedrow Castle. Some of the long lost relatives of the deceased start showing up looking for handouts and Max realizes that anyone of them has motive for murder. Will it be easy to uncover who did it?

Alice Munro’s short story collection “Dear Life” is perfect when you only have a short time to read. Her stories show how a chance encounter can change someone’s life, cause someone to take a course of action never considered, or even how events can be set in motion.

Flavia de Luce is an amateur detective in the novels “Speaking From Among the Bones” by Alan Bradley. The village of Bishop’s Lacey is preparing to celebrate the five hundredth anniversary of St Tancred’s death. But the proceedings are halted when the crypt is opened and inside they find the body of the church organist. Why was he killed and why would they put him in the crypt?

Other titles donated by the Lions Club include “The Striker” by Clive Cussler, “A Week in Winter” by Maeve Binchy, “Red Velvet Cupcake Murder” by Joanne Fluke, “Calculated in Death” by J. D. Robb and“Standing in Another Man’s Grave” by Ian Rankin.
