The Weather Bureau said there was no indication of a significant warming trend and temperatures would continue to dip to around zero in most areas, with much lower readings in some spots.

On the bright side, very little snow is expected in the near future, although some light snow and flurries are predicted. Generally, however, the fair skies of Wednesday are expected to remain over the state.

Temperatures are expected to average 15 to 18 degrees below normal in Western New York and 7 to 15 below normal in Eastern New York through Monday. Normal daytime high temperatures range from 25 to 33, and nighttime lows from 6 into the teens, at this time of year.

Some lows Wednesday night, all below zero:

Salisbury 17; Watertown 16; Massena 15; Glens Falls 10; Rome 9; Oneonta 8; Albany 4; Utica 2; Plattsburgh 1.
