One hundred forty-five high school students from the immediate Star area are among winners of Regents College Scholarships.
Names of 16,242 winners of scholarships were released yesterday by the State Education Department.
David F. Wilson, Stamford senior, was the highest scorer in the immediate area. David totaled 269 in the 300 unit examination. Next high score was registered by Walter R. Lawrence of Sidney.
Richard Whitaker, Oneonta, was third high in area scoring when he totaled 262 to lead Otsego County in the test which was taken by approximately 101,000 high school seniors Oct. 4, 1962.
Frederick Swanson of Mount Upton was the best scorer in Chenango County with his 261 and best in Schoharie County was Ronald Yamiolkoski of Middleburgh with 245.
Cooperstown Central had the most winners in Otsego County, placing 13 on the list to Oneonta’s high 12.
Sidney High dominated the Delaware County winners’ list with a total of 18. Walton placed eight on the list and Delaware Academy five.
