BINGHAMTON — Stanley Burton, teacher of agriculture at Downsville, was honored at a dinner last evening at Harpur College where the Association of Teachers of Agriculture of New York is holding its annual professional improvement conference. Mr. Burton was presented with the Association’s 10-year service award.
Mr. Burton has taught at Downsville for the past nine years. Prior to teaching at Downsville, he held a similar position at Gilbertsville for two years. Honors he has received include recognition at state and national levels. He received the Thor National Farm Mechanics Award in 1956 and has been selected by the State Education Department to do several educational and curriculum development assignments.
Mr. Burton married the former Lucile Dean in 1952 and they have one son and three daughters.
He obtained his B.S. from Cornell University and is qualified in agriculture, driving training and guidance areas.
