July 13, 1988

HARTWICK — Beaver Valley Productions, Ltd., has booked four major country music stars for another music festival over the Labor Day weekend on Sept. 3 and 4 at the Beaver Valley campground in Hartwick.

The perfomers who will be appearing in clude Roy Clark, Grandpa Joes, Roger Miller and Robin Lee, who was nominated as a top new femaile vocalist in 1985 by the Academy of Country music, according to William Trolio, who is in charge of publicity for Beaver Valley Productions.

The festival will be the second of its kind scheduled by the organization this season.

 It will follow a three-day event set for July 22 through 24 featuring John Denver, comedian Robert Klein, The Assocation, Del Shannon and Sha Na Na. The promoters are expecting 20,000 people to attend.

50 years ago

July 13, 1963

Mayor Albert (Sam) Nader said Friday he expect s federal approval “within a week” on the plas for the reconstruction of West Street.

C.M. Taylor, Director of Public Service, returned from New York Friday after taking the plans to the Housing and Home Finance Agency for approval by the Community Facilities Administration. Mr. Nader said that Mr. Taylor had reported favorably on the reaction of HHFA officials. The mayor quoted federal officials as saying that “everyhing is in order” and said that final approval should be received by the end of the the week.

West Street is being constructed with matching federal and municipal funds.
