Genealogy and eBook classes to be offered

Librarian Sarah Livingston will conduct classes during May for genealogy and ebooks. The sessions are listed below and you can sign up for as many programs as you like. Registration is required for all programs and may be done in person or by calling 432-1980. Workshops are free unless noted. Computers will be available, courtesy of the Four County Library System traveling classroom.


May 1, 10 to 11:30 a.m., Internet Genealogy: Learn about various Internet resources,, USGenWeb, Castle Garden, Find a Grave, email lists and other sites.

May 3, 10 a.m., Internet Genealogy NY State: Learn about various Internet resources with the focus being on conducting NY research., USGenWeb, Castle Garden, Find a Grave, Fultonhistory, and other NY relevant sites.

May 8, 2 to 3 p.m., United Kingdom Genealogy: If your relatives hail from England, Ireland or Scotland, learn how and where to write for records. You’ll learn about Internet resources and how to access archives. There is a $5 fee for materials, payable at the time of the workshop.

May 10, 10 to 10:45 a.m., DNA Genealogy: Should you try a DNA testing program? Learn about Genealogy DNA programs, prices, the kind of results you get and what to do with your results.

May 1 through May 10, One-On-Ones: Sign up for individual genealogy workshop sessions with Librarian Sarah Livingston. Using book and Internet resources, Sarah will work with you one-on-one to help with your genealogical research. Call or stop at the desk before April 29 to sign up.
