Norman Thomas, six times a candidate for president of the Untied States on the Socialist party ticket, will be the Founders’ Day speaker at Hartwick College Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Mr. Thomas, Chairman of the Post War World Council and of the Labor Research Institute, is a member of many committees, among them the League for Industrial Democracy, the Workers Defense League, the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy, the Inter-American Association for Democracy and Freedom, and National Sharecroppers Fund.
He is an honorary co-chairman of Iberica Publishing Company. He is a frequent speaker on radio and television programs, writes a column twice a week, and is a frequent contributor to magazines and newspapers.
Norman Thomas is the author of numerous books and pamphlets, including, “The Conscientious Objector in America,” “Human Exploitation,” “War, No Profit, No Glory, No Need,” “A Socialist’s Faith,” “The Test of Freedom,” “Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentleman …”, “Prerequisites for Peace,” and “Great Dissenters.”
