The Otego Historical Society's first meeting for 2011 will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in The Harris House at 334 Main St. in Otego.
Ernie Kroll and Nick Brent will present up-to-date information about the Otego Emergency Squad. The fundraising efforts for a rescue boat will be discussed and the requirements for training that members of the emergency squad must complete will be explained. They will also provide a free blood-pressure clinic.
The Historical Society is in the midst of reorganizing. A slate of officers has been drawn up for president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Candidates for these offices will be presented for voting during the meeting, which is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The group offers programs every third Monday from April to November, which are open to the public. The Historical Society rooms are open from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays at 6 River St.
The group is also organizing a community scrapbook. Community residents may bring historic pictures of Otego families, homes and businesses. Copies can be made of any material brought to the Historic Society so owners may retain the original items. For more information, visit otegohistoricalsociety.com or call Bill at 988-7973.
