Oneonta Motel, Inc., moved another step toward a construction date Wednesday.
Donald M. Charles, president of the motel, and members of the Oneonta Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, met at Wilber National Bank yesterday afternoon and exercised an option to lease a parcel of land from the trustees of the lodge.
The long term lease provides for the use of all land immediately to the rear of the Masonic Temple which is at the corner of Main and Grand streets.
The lease also covers a parcel of land, 100 feet wide on the westerly side of the Temple, currently occupied by a service station.
Last Monday the Common Council in three minutes rezoned the proposed motel site from residential to commercial.
A tract of land on Grand Street, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Van Buren, was also rezoned for the motel.
