DELHI—The economic outlook for the Hancock area looks brighter following an announcement by C. Stewart Goff, president of the board of directors of the Hancock Industrial Development Corporation (HIDC).

Mr. Goff said that the corporation had leased its industrial plant on Mill Street to R.D. Denise, owner of Royalty Playthings, Inc. of Utica. The good news came following negotiations which had been underway since May of 1963.

According to the present schedule, Mr. Denise plans to start operations in early February, providing a sprinkler system and a 16-foot door have been installed.

In December, Mr. Denise made it known that he contemplates employing approximately 40 persons if available, with about half of that number being women from the local area.

Since last October more than a dozen people have been receiving training in a plant owned by Mr. Denise in Utica. These people will instruct the new employees at the Hancock mill.

The new industry will manufacture various types of sporting goods made of wood, including water skis, ski poles, bob sleds, toboggans, tennis rackets, swimming pool ladders and other items in the sporting lines. In Utica, Mr. Denise manufactures sailboats and will move the equipment used to make that item to another location in Utica.
