French conversation courses are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Oneonta YMCA, Elwin Chase, secretary general, announced.

The courses will be held each Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. in the “Y” under the direction of Albert Forgac, former professor at the University College Breguet, Paris, France, Chevalier des Palmes Academiques (Knight with Academic Palms).

Beginner and intermediate courses will be offered with emphasis on speaking, reading and conversation. A new practical and attractive method will be used together with French records, films and audio-visual aids, Mr. Chase said. Upon completion of the courses prizes will be awarded to the best students.

An additional feature will be a French-American exchange of correspondence between the students and people living in France. Parties, games, lectures, singing and visits to French restaurants will also be planned. They will all be carried out completely in the French language.

The French courses are under the sponsorship of the Adult Committee of the YMCA in Oneonta and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York.
