In preparation for their Thanksgiving Eve Police Ball at the State Armory Nov. 21, Oneonta police are distributing some 300 posters.
Kendall Loucks, president of the Oneonta Police Benevolent Association and chairman of the dance, said that preparations for the dance started several weeks ago.
The Police Ball will feature Glenn Miller’s 16-piece orchestra under the direction of Ray McKinley.
Also on the Thanksgiving Eve agenda at the State Armory, which will begin at 9 p.m. and end at 1 a.m., will be Lenny Hambro and Bobby Nichols of the Glenn Miller group.
Mr. McKinley, who became conductor of the orchestra following Glenn Miller’s death during World War Two, will play Glenn Miller arrangements at the ball.
Committee members for the ball are Sgt. James Fawcett and Leland Graves, ad book committee; Sgt. Ranson Henderson and Carl Delberta, advertising; LeRoy Turner, tickets; Sgt. Henderson and Kendall Loucks, armory arrangements; LeRoy Turner, Alphonse Pizza and Joseph DeSalvatore, decorating committee; Joseph DeSalvatore and Kendall Loucks, distributing posters; Alphonse Pizza, street banner repair.
