The Oneonta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at noon Saturday for a catered luncheon and chapter meeting at the Oneonta Masonic Temple.

The meeting will include recognition of this year's American history essay contest winners as well as DAR Good Citizens from Oneonta, Franklin and Laurens central schools. Hartwick College professor of geology Bob Titus will speak on "Oneonta in the Ice Age" at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Greater Oneonta Historical Society History Center.

Titus will describe the onset of glaciations in Oneonta, its peak in the Catskills and the specific ice age

history of Oneonta.

Titus is a frequent contributor to Kaatskill Life magazine and has written three books on the Catskills: "The Catskills: A Geological Guide," "The Catskills in the Ice Age" and, the most recent, "The Other Side of Time: Essays by

Robert Titus, The Catskill Geologist.'"

Titus' work was recently profiled on WSKG radio's "Off the Page" program. All three books will be on

sale and available for signing after his presentation.

The event is free and open to the public at the History Center at 183 Main St. in downtown Oneonta.

The program will include opportunities for women present to explore how thoughts affect feelings and behaviors. The group will look at how reframing thoughts can prevent feelings from blocking positive changes, presenters said.
