The Landis Arboretum in Esperance will present a self-guided garden tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26. The cost is $25 for Arboretum members or $35 for nonmembers. The Carole and Robert Olsen home at 1102 Westkill Road in Jefferson features more than two deer-proofed acres including multiple gardens. Visitors will see large cimifuga and Rodgersia along the pond path, as well as a clematis-clad porch, scented thyme and more than 600 different species such as day lilies, salvia, buddleia, roses, phlox and Stewartia.
Rosman Gardens at 1136 Enid Road in Summit is owned and operated by Joanne and Andy Rosman. The private woodland botanical garden hosts a variety of native and rare plants, ornamental grasses, English garden perennials and more than 200 roses. Plants will be available to purchase at this site. Garden designer, writer, Master Gardener and rose expert Joanne Rosman will lead tours of this garden, which has been featured in Woman's Day, American Rose Magazine and other publications.
Swallow Hill Flower Farm on state Route 10 in Summit features an alpine garden, tree-lined shade garden and fields of day lilies, the farm's specialty. More than 300 cultivars are on display, in addition to the shade garden's astilbe, hosta, brunnera, lamium and other plants. The farm features a gift shop with locally made artwork. Nancie and Bryan Bidwell will host the tour and hand-dig field-grown perennials for purchase.
The State University College of Agriculture and Technology at Morrisville's teaching gardens and greenrooms will be shown by Terry Forsyth. Curtiss Mott Hall is home to an extensive collection of labeled plants, native species, exotic species, annuals, perennials, ornamental grasses and more.
