The Miss Delaware County Teen-Ager Pageant will be held at the Delaware County Fair for the first time in eight years, organizers said, offering area residents an opportunity to compete for trophies and awards. The pageant will take place in the entertainment court at the fairgrounds in Walton at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12, following the talent show.

Organizers said the goal of the pageant is to create opportunities for local young women to promote community service and other positive involvement in the region.

The pageant winner will receive a crown, sash, flowers, prizes, paid entry to the Miss Teen-Ager of New York State pageant, a seat in the firefighters' parade and more.

Runners-up will also be eligible to win prizes, and all entrants who register in advance will receive free admission to the fair the day of the pageant. Entrants will also receive Miss Delaware Teen-Ager tanktops and group and personal photographs.

In addition, the Delaware area Pageant of the Stars and Miss Delaware Area Teen-ager pageant will be held Sunday at the American Legion in Delhi.

The winners of each age group will receive paid entry to the next level of competition. Entry is open to children and teens from infants through age 18.
