The Otego Yard Sale Day organizers are preparing a map of the location of the participating homes and groups. Those interested in adding their location should call Bill Boerner at 988-7973 before Tuesday. Maps will be available, free of charge, at Jake’s Deli, the Silversmith’s and Harris Memorial Library starting Thursday.
The Harris Memorial Library, at 334 Main St. in Otego, will hold its annual spring book sale from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with Otego Yard Sale Day. A variety of donated books will be offered for sale for 50 cents to $1. Cool drinks and popcorn will also be fore sale A $1-a-bag sale will begin at 1 p.m. Proceeds from the sale will benefit library programs and events. For more information, call 988-6661 or 988-2613.
The Otego Historical Society at 27 River Street will sell baked goods, yard sale items and plants. The village will provide two latrines in the parking lot next to the Historical Society.
The American Legion is offering 20-by-20 spaces on the Legion field for $10 a each. To reserve a spot, call 988-6347.
The Methodist Church on Church Street will sell food and have a restrooms available.
The Otego Garden Club will sell plants at the Camps at 9 Averill St. starting at 9 a.m. In this year’s sale plants included will be pulmonaria, Japanese iris, perennial bachelor buttons, rhubarb plants, strawberry plants, Chinese lanterns, lupines, violets, houseplants, spider plants, primrose, aloe, forget me nots, johnny jump-ups, bee balm (red), flowering quince, hens & chicks, ajuga, black-eyed susan, “Outhouse” daisies and hypertuffa pots filled with hens and chicks. The proceeds from this sale will be used by the club to purchase flowers for the flower boxes that line Otego’s Main Street. For additional information, call 988-7453 evenings.
The Roland B. Hill Archaeological Museum on Main Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. free of charge.
The Otego Fire Department will hold its annual chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on River Street.
Food vendors from outside the community, should contact Ron at 988-7956 concerning proper permits and location.
The village crew will pick up appliances on Monday, May 20. Items to be discarded should be set out by the street by 8 a.m.
